“ My husband and I visited this restaurant with high expectations, especially because I’m from Russia, and it’s been difficult for me to find places in the U.S. where the food, service, and atmosphere all meet my standards. We had pre-ordered the Beef Wellington, and while we waited, we tried four appetizers and three different drinks. Everything was absolutely delicious. When the Beef Wellington arrived, it was my first time trying it, and I can say that it exceeded my expectations. Not only was it delicious, but it was also beautifully presented. The dish was served at the perfect temperature, with the meat cooked to perfection. Every dish we tried that day was just spot-on. I loved the drinks, the service, the atmosphere, and I would definitely return to try more of their offerings. Thank you so much for such an amazing experience. I absolutely loved your restaurant and will happily return. A special shoutout for the carpaccio, which was simple yet rich in flavor. “ I flew in from Orange County, CA, searching for a unique dining experience to share with my mom—and Garcon De Donburi delivered beyond expectations. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff set the tone for an unforgettable meal. We started with the Softshell Crab and Gyoza as appetizers, and the flavors were outstanding. The Softshell Crab was so delicious that my mom couldn't help but asked for a second order—a true testament to its quality and preparation. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Grilled Octopus and Salmon Donburi. The octopus was perfectly grilled, tender, and full of rich, smoky flavor, while the Salmon Donburi was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with well-balanced umami goodness. As we enjoyed our meal, I couldn't help but ask, "How long have you guys been here?"—it was hard to believe this restaurant has been around for just over a year! With food this exceptional and service that makes you feel like family, it’s heartbreaking to hear that Garcon De Donburi is planning to close at the end of April. This gem of a restaurant will surely be missed, and I encourage anyone who hasn’t visited yet to experience it while they still can. “ Wonderful Japanese/French restaurant with great food, excellent service, great ambience. Location in the middle of downtown is perfect. Their service ware is really nice. They're keeping up with the times and brought the card machine to the table instead of taking my credit card! I wish more places would catch up with other countries and do the same thing so we don't have to hand over our cards to some stranger. Back to the food - tried the duck croquettes as somebody recommended on Yelp and they did not disappoint. The pork loin katsu was a generous portion and was very tender and moist. Didn't care for the accompanying sauce, but it doesn't really need it. The sesame seed dressing on the cabbage was refreshing. The fries were good, but I think they could have fried them fresh after I ordered it. Still, it was pretty good. A definite must try! ”

“ A beautiful, upscale atmosphere with accessible, well-priced food, Garcon de Donburi is unique in its offerings. I have not really seen a Salmon Don (sashimi salmon on rice bowl) done aburri style (seared). This was super delicious and super rich - the Don comes topped with a poached egg. To me, the drawback was the amount of rice...I wanted more to sop up and distribute the unctuousness. Next time I order it, I will ask for an extra serving of rice. The gyoza and tempura are top notch ... Perfectly fried. The tempura is airy, not greasy at all. The Asian coleslaw was a treat... It came with a heap of roe that gave a salty punch to the dish... Loved it. My one note would be they're quite concerned with what they serve the food on, trying to make a certain aesthetic, when it might need simpler plating for a better dining experience. I'm curious how this restaurant will evolve. Service was very good. Street parking is pretty easy. ”
